The Interview

The following is a transcript of how the interview went between one of our groupmates and our client.

Q: First of all, are there days ba po na wala ka pong ginagawa?

A: Linggo lang, beh. Monday to Saturday, nandito kami sa Pisay.

Q: Ano pong ginagawa niyo tuwing Linggo?

A: Ano beh, naglalaba, namamlantsa, naglilinis ng bahay.

May ginagawa ba po kayo for fun?

A: Minsan beh, pumupunta kami sa ilog.

Q: Ano pong ginagawa niyo?

A: Naliligo.

Q: Are there any other things you would want to do kung meron ka pang time?

Q: Are there any other things to do you would want to do, if you had the time?

A: Minsan po kasi may pinapasukan akong trabaho pag Linggo.

A: Minsan pumupunta sila dito.

01/28/20

We are writing down our evaluation criteria and questions we’ll use to interview our client. We deliberated whether or not our questions should be centered around our client’s hobbies or we’ll keep it vague. We decide on the former.

Cogitation:

We’re still working on the design brief, but at the same time we’re preparing questions for our interviewee.

01/30/20

Oh my god, I actually talked to someone. For today, we wrote down questions and interviewed someone from the utility crew. Myel egged on me to interview the client myself, I was like, “…no”, but I also thought “Errr, fine. No one else will do it.”

Cogitation:

We’ve now gotten a response from our client.

01/31/20

Now that we’re done with the interview, we listed down the questions and responses under PIES(Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social).

Cogitation:

We try sorting out the needs under said categories based on the responses from our client.

02/04/20

It’s Tuesday, I’m tired. I wanna sleep.

I’ve updated our website, where I posted our most recent journals. I kind of, low key, feel accomplished. Myel is editing our design task at Word Office(or is it Microsoft Word???? Microsoft Office?). We also add more to our list of possible products.

Cogitation:

We continue to look for possible solutions. Here’s to hoping Myel’s laptop doesn’t break down in the future.

02/6/20

Sir announces the people who are going to present their PIES table and their design. I already feel pressured. We brainstorm(because we didn’t even start with the design) our design. Apparently may exact measurements na dapat. Mark Edison and I are left to discuss the design. We’ve had some ideas that we jotted down. (for example, a clyndrical cart where our client could put her stuff).

Cogitation:

We now have a basic idea on the design.

02/11/20

Last night, Myel and I measured the length and width of our product by borrowing our friend’s broom. Today we now have a model of our product. We plan on making something with cabinets for personal use and beside it a trashcan or a place where our client could put her tools(like a broom). But we run into some technicalities, specifically about our design. There’s a certain part of the model that is semi-curved. We aren’t sure what to do with it.

Cogitation:

We will further discuss and improve our model.

02/13/20

We now get ready to present our work. Myel edits our design task on her laptop, which she curses for almost not functioning properly. We’ve talked a bit more about our product’s design and today she let me see the new, revised model. We made it into something you could put on a table or desk, with cabinets and compartments for personal things, a calendar and a digital clock. We also decided to put a glass pane on top where our client could put her schedule.

Cogitation:

We are thinking of more things to complete our model.

02/18/20

We presented what we had so far. Sir gave us comments and suggestions, like how to connect our final product with the other two needs and products. He also made us restate what we put down for our ‘social needs’. Sir also asked for a possibly more innovative design for this platform our model stands on, which is rectangular.

Cogitation:

We will brainstorm ideas again to modify and hopefully improve our model and its function.

02/20/20

We start by discussing what we’re going to do with the rectangular platform our model stands on. For now, we are going to curve the platform and add hooks(Myel really likes hooks for some reason). Sir suggests to us ideas for innovative designs.

Cogitation:

We will again revise our model’s design.

02/21/20

Our model is now foldable and a hinge connects the two halves of our model. Sir liked our design when he looked at it. We decided we were done for today and took a break.

Cogitation:

I’m glad sir found our design innovative enough.

03/03/20

Sir shows us a powerpoint on electricity, which we will use for our project in the next quarter. It only dawns on me now that we’re steadily approaching the fourth and last quarter. How time flies. I think 3rd quarter is about two months.

Cogitation:

We are fastly approaching the fourth quarter…and maybe soon into a new project…

03/13/20

We’ve finally shown the finished product to our client. She seemed pleased with it. We also go her to evaluate our product.

Cogitation:

We did it! 😀

Transcript of Evaluation From Client

Q: Does our product fit the problems we found during our interview with you?

A: Yung ginawa niyo beh, ok naman.

Q: Are there any parts that could’ve been improved upon?

Kaso lang, bakit po hindi bilog?(referring to the semicircular bottom part of product)

Q: What is the best feature?

A: Ang pinakamaganda sa kanya ay ito, (points at the attached notepad-like thing) kasi pwede ka magsulat kung anong gusto mo.

Q: What is the worst feature?

A: Wala naman, ok man kasi beh.

Q: You don’t find any problems with it?

A: Wala naman po, beh.

Q: Is it nice to look at?

A: Opo, maganda siyang tingnan, kasi gold ang kulay niya.

Overall Evaluation

The outcome of this product went well. According to ma’am it did meet the design brief., and she qas even happy to know that we altered a bit of the design. It’s design fitted into the PIES chart and met with the evaluation criteria nicely. When showed to our client how it work, she was surprised to know that it was detachable – made for easier carrying – but was satisfied nonetheless and happy nonetheless. It worked well. She did not have much to say about further possible improvements to the product. The best feature for her was the additional blackboard – which was originally going to be a glass pane, it added a stylish flare to the product. She also liked the color of it. She had not much to say about the least best features, and no additional benefits. Once again, our client really liked the outcome of the product, since she sqid it was aesthetically pleasing. And it was ergonomically sound, we can say. Overall, the product was well executed, it may not be perfect but it was enough to satisfy our client.
